We're proud that a meaningful portion of what's in our showroom is made right here in Canada — including our own HEFT HOME line, hand-built in Mississauga, Ontario, and our partner brands Canadel and Elran from Quebec.

We started building our own furniture in 2015, and we've never looked back. Our Mississauga, Ontario workshop produces hand-built, solid wood pieces — dining tables, bedroom sets, accent furniture, live edge slabs, and more.

We chose to manufacture in Canada for a simple reason: it's better. Better quality control, faster lead times when something needs fixing, real accountability when something's not right, and good Canadian jobs in our own backyard.

Look for the maple-leaf badge on our HEFT HOME pieces — that's how you know it was built right here. (We carry some imported HEFT HOME accents too — lamps, rugs, smaller décor — but we always tell you which is which.)

What Goes Into a HEFT HOME Piece

Solid wood.
Real joinery. Honest finish.

No veneer dressing. No particle board core. Just real wood, joined and finished by people who know what they're doing.

Solid wood, not veneer.

What you see is what you get. Real wood from end to end — top, sides, base. No surprises when a corner chips. No particle board lurking under a thin laminate.

Hand-selected lumber.

We work with sustainably and ethically sourced wood, including reclaimed pieces where the grain tells a story. Every plank is inspected before it enters the shop.

Real joinery.

Mortise-and-tenon, dovetails, finger joints — methods that have held furniture together for centuries. We don't take shortcuts where they show.

Hand-finished.

Sanded, sealed, and finished by hand. Every piece is inspected before it leaves the workshop. If we wouldn't put it in our home, we don't put it in the showroom.

Natural variation, celebrated.

Knots, grain shifts, color variation, and small fissures from changes in climate are characteristic of real wood. They aren't defects — they're proof it's not plastic.

Built to outlast you.

A solid wood table built right will last generations — not five years. We build pieces that get handed down, not thrown out.

When you buy a Canadian-made piece, you're supporting Canadian manufacturing jobs — woodworkers, finishers, upholsterers, delivery teams, designers. Real people in real Ontario and Quebec communities.

You're also getting better quality control and faster service. If something's not right, the shop is here, the people are here, and we can fix it without waiting six months for an overseas container.

And there's the environmental angle: shorter shipping distances, more transparent supply chains, and (in our case) sustainably sourced wood. Buying Canadian isn't just patriotic — it's practical.

Our Promise

We'll always tell you
where it's from.

Some pieces in the showroom are imported — Ashley products and even some HEFT HOME accent pieces sourced from our partners overseas. That's normal in furniture. What's not normal is being told the truth about it.

Every product in our showroom is clearly labeled with its origin. Canadian-made pieces get the maple-leaf badge. Imported pieces are simply labeled by their country of manufacture. No misleading "Designed in Canada" sleight-of-hand.
