Who We Are

More Than a
Furniture Store.

Heft Home started with a simple belief: everyone deserves a table they're proud of, one that didn't cost them a fortune, and one that no one else has.

We built our warehouse in Irvine so customers could come in, see the wood, touch it, and choose their own piece. No catalog. No waiting months for a custom order. Just walk in, pick your slab, and take it home.

Over ten years later, that's still exactly how we do it. We've stayed small on purpose, because when you're dealing with something this personal, the experience matters as much as the product.

The Wood

Why Monkeypod?

Monkeypod, also known as Samanea saman or rain tree, is one of the most stunning hardwoods in the world. It's prized for its rich, swirling grain patterns, warm natural tones, and exceptional durability.

Unlike most commercial furniture wood, monkeypod naturally grows with dramatic figure and character. No two slabs are alike. Each piece carries its own grain pattern, its own width, its own story, which is exactly why we let you choose yours in person.

And at 2.5 inches thick, these tables aren't just beautiful. They're built to be passed down.

Why Three Pieces · Not One

Three Boards.
One Story.

People sometimes ask why our tabletops are made from three matched boards instead of a single solid slab. The honest answer is: a multi-board top is the better table.

A single 8- or 10-foot slab of monkeypod looks impressive in a photo. In real life, that much wood, held together by nothing but its own fibers, is constantly fighting itself. Wood breathes. It expands and contracts with humidity, season after season. The bigger the unbroken piece, the more dramatic that movement, and the more likely you'll see cupping, splitting, or hairline cracks down the line.

By joining three carefully chosen boards, we let each piece move independently, the table stays flat, stable, and intact for decades, not just for the first photo.

It's also where the craft lives. A single slab is whatever the tree gave you, defects, soft spots, awkward grain and all. With three boards, we hand-pick each one, lay them edge to edge, rotate and re-rotate them on the floor until the grain flows from one piece to the next like it grew that way. Done well, you don't see three boards. You see one continuous piece of wood, deliberately composed, with character no single slab could match. That's the difference between a slab of wood and a table.

Built to Last

Three boards move less than one. Each piece balances the others as humidity changes, so your table stays flat, no cupping, no splitting, no surprises in year five.

Hand-Matched Grain

We lay every top out by hand and rotate the boards until the grain flows continuously across the surface. Done right, you stop seeing seams and start seeing a single, intentional piece.

Better Wood, Better Price

Massive single slabs come from massive trees and carry a massive price. Three matched boards let us pick only the cleanest, most figured sections from each tree, better wood, less waste, wholesale price.

How We Do It

The Heft Home Process.

Every table that leaves our warehouse goes through the same careful process, no shortcuts, no compromises.

01

Sourcing

We source solid monkeypod slabs directly, no middlemen, no veneer, no compromises. Every slab arrives at our warehouse and is assessed for size, grain, and character before it earns a place on our floor.

02

Inspection

Each slab is hand-inspected for cracks, voids, and imperfections. Any structural issues are addressed before the piece moves to refinishing. We don't sell anything we wouldn't put in our own home.

03

Refinishing

We sand, shape, and refinish every slab to bring out the natural beauty of the grain. Whether you choose natural or bleached, the finish is applied evenly and allowed to cure properly before sealing.

04

Sealing

A coat of lacquer is applied by hand to protect the wood from moisture, heat, and everyday wear. This keeps your table looking incredible for years without constant maintenance.

05

You Choose Your Piece

Every finished slab goes on our warehouse floor, where you come in, walk around, and pick the exact piece that's right for you. We pull options based on your size and finish preference before you arrive.

06

Delivery & Setup

We deliver and fully assemble your table in your home. Legs are attached, everything is level, and we clean up when we're done. You just enjoy it.
